When is the best time of year to get married in Italy?
Between May and September the days are usually sunny and dry though May can be showery. July and August are very hot and can often see temperatures in the 30s.
How soon before the wedding should we arrive in Italy?
For civil ceremonies, this depends on when your declaration will be. We will be able to advise you on booking your ceremony. Usually a couple of days before the big day is perfect although there may be exceptions depending on the town hall.
Can we remarry if we have been divorced?
Yes, though women must wait a period of 300 days since the Decree Absolute before remarrying.
Will my marriage certificate be recognised in my home country?
Yes! We will request a multilingual certificate for you so that it will never need to be translated. If you are from outside Europe, we can have an apostille stamp placed on the back of your certificate so it will be recognised worldwide.
Can we come over and see the venues?
Yes, we offer guided viewings which usually take half a day. We typically see two or three of your shortlisted venues. We charge €200 for the tour which is payable on the day. Ask us for more details.
When do we pay?
Our planning deposit is 50% paid at the time of booking. We will advise you of deposits required to secure venues and other services for your wedding (deposits usually vary between 20% and 40%). The full balance must be paid within 6 weeks of the date of your wedding and there may be smaller deposits as we plan and secure your vendors.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept payments by international bank transfer. All payments are made in Euros. If you wish to pay by card, you can pay via Wise.com.
How far in advance should we start planning our wedding?
You should secure the venue as soon as possible, a year or more in advance is recommended to ensure you get the venue and date you would like. The flowers, music, photography etc. can usually all be planned between 6 months and a year before the day.
Is it possible to plan a wedding at short notice?
It is, though for civil weddings you will need time to have your legal documents processed. You should really allow around four months minimum to be safe. Symbolic weddings can be planned with very little notice, though venues do get booked up in advance so the later you leave it, the less choice you will have.
Can same sex couples marry in Italy?
Yes, same-sex couples can marry in Italy. These marriages are recognised by the law and are officially called ‘civil unions’.
When do we get our wedding certificate?
Your certificate will be issued the same day as the wedding and will be presented to you after the ceremony. If you need us to place an apostille stamp on the back, we can request two copies, one copy for you to take immediately and one copy for us to have stamped and posted on to you.
How long is the ceremony?
Usually, your ceremony will last around 25 minutes. You should allow extra time if you have readings by friend and family members.
Will we need a translator?
By law, you will require a translator if either you or your witnesses do not speak fluent Italian.
Must we have witnesses?
For civil weddings, yes. You will require two witnesses over the age of 18. They can be family members. Should you require, we are able to provide witnesses for you.
What would happen if you or a key supplier was ill on the wedding day?
As part of a team, we have staff who could take over at short notice. All of our suppliers have similar support and would be able to cover should the need arise.
Are you able to arrange group activities and welcome dinners around the wedding date?
